Question:

Can wearing out-dated prescription eye-wear cause lightheadedness?

When I remove my glasses when driving, the lightheadedness goes away.

Last check-up was last year when I was told there was no change in my vision and new prescription was not necessary! I can see without them, corrects my vision slightly for blurriness, that's all. I can wear them indoors with no lightheaded feeling at all, i.e., when watching TV, no problem. Can watch TV without them. Just get lightheaded when used while driving. Perhaps there is a strain of some sort from the brightness of daylight or something while wearing them. Take them off, nausea feeling and everything goes away.

Hi there:

yes indeed. I wouldn't describe it as lightheadness but more like "out of focus?" feeling. How long have you had those glasses? are you due for a new exam? do you see better with or without them?

It may be time to get a new rx. Check with your local Dr. and see if they run any specials or coupons you can use towards a new exam and just do it. It will be money well spent if it gets rid of that feeling you are getting.

Blessings
