Is it possible for me to get lens or laser surgery?
Is it possible for me to get lenses or laser surgery even though I am only 14. I heard that you need to be 18 to get lenses. Also, how much does it cost for laser surgery?
Answers:
I have plenty of patients who wear contact lenses successfully at 14. No one should have laser correction until he or she is finished growing and his/her vision has stabilized. I recommend waiting until age 22 or 23 (approximately the time one finishes college). I have been caring for patients who have these surgeries for 9 years and this is my best advice.
