White part of my eyes are turning darkish gray/blue??!


Question:

White part of my eyes are turning darkish gray/blue??

What does it mean when the white part of my eyes are turning darkish gray/blue?? My sister can see this as well in my eyes.

Thinning of the sclera allows the underlaying black-blue tissue (choroid) to become a bit visible, hence the gray/blue appearance.

The third answer from the top was quite correct and comprehensive. However, the disease conditions mentioned are mostly hereditary/genetic. Thus they would usually manifest a bit early in your life. It would also usually manifest as a grayish/bluish hue to all of the white.

If it is only specific patches on the white and was previously accompanied by pain, it might be a form of scleritis or an inflammation of the sclera or white part of the eye. Scelritis is a bit worrisome.

It would be best to have yourself examined by an ophthalmologist so you can be given the appropriate treatment.
