Is it true there's a surgery to change your eye color?!!!!?

i've been hearing people say that they wanna have lighter eyes "without contacts or surgery", and my friends say there IS a surgery, and i'm like, WHAT could someone possibly do to alter your eye color?!!

care to shed some light on this issue?!!

I'm not sure but i cant see what would stop them staining the iris a different colour. But what do i know the others are probably right.
