Contact Lenses and Eye drops?!

Question:

Contact Lenses and Eye drops?

Why do regular eye drops tell you to remove your contacts before using? What will happen if you don't? I know they have special "Contact Lens" eye drops but I am just wondering why on the regular eye drops they tell you not to use it while you have your contacts in. Does anyone know if it will damage the contacts? I have been using the regular stuff all this time and didn't even know about that, but I havent had any problems!

Answers:

SOme of the preparations on the market have preservatives or other compoinds that will stick to your lense and not some off. This can clog the pores of the contacts and it can also cause irritation, or contrubute to the deterioration of the matrix of your lense. You usualy can use them and then put your CLs back in about 10 minutes later after the substances have dispersed or dissipated and are no longer in your tear system. Drops for Cl wearers have different types of preservatives and additives that do not cause this kind of stuff to happen. They can not always use the kind you can use with contacts becuase they are not compatible with some of th eother chemicals. there ya go! LORI O^O
