Call all doctors, eye surgeons, PA's, nurses....help!?!

Question:

Call all doctors, eye surgeons, PA's, nurses....help!?

i just heard of a child, a female, overseas, about 5 or 6 yrs old, who had been complaining of not being able to see for some time now. She would complain every two weeks or so, not everyday, that things were blurry or that she couldn't see. Her mom, not knowing what was going on, or just thinking that it's nothing serious, would face her face and eyes every time she complained. Yesterday, they finally went to a doctor who scolded them for not bringing in the child earlier. He then proceeded to tell them that this is no silly matter, and that the child can possibly lose her vision! Naturally, the family was and is distraught. I don't think they asked many questions about the condition as they were sooo shocked upon hearing that their child could end up blind...God Forbid! Not only that, the medical system there is quite different than the one here in the US.

I must continue....Here, a patient has the right to know what is going on in their bodies and it is the duty of the doc to tell them, whereas there...i guess it's "if u don't ask, we won't say" is the policy. Sad, huh? So, the doc said that she must wear glasses (reg. ones, no fiber glass, no light-weight stuff) for the next 6 months only removing them at bedtime. He also warned the parents not to upset her or make her cry. He also added that the only reason she didn't lose her vision is because she was watching cartoons...that's what has saved her vision thus far,and that she should continue watching them. What is going on?? I have never heard of this. There has been some family history of similar eye complaints by the child's father and his sister when they were children, and now they are fine. I want to know what disease is this? Is this progressive? Im sorry but i have noo idea what the eye exam revealed, neither do the parents! is this cone dystrophy? Thanks for ur input.

only serious answers, please; Preferrably a physician or surgeon or anyone with experience in the medical field, especially optometry/opthalmology. Thanks.

Answers:

I think the one thing you can do is pray for the Lord to give the Dr's wisdom to find out the root of the problem.
