Better contact lens, Water content?!

Question:

Better contact lens, Water content?

I'm using Bausch and Lomb Toric Softlens 66's (wal-mart) 2 week replaceables and they are ok....but I'm having a lot of problems with dryness. I looked on the Net it is seems to be a common complaint with this lens but everyone says they get the best vision with them. Can anyone recommend another lens to try. I looked at Lensrate.com but they don't have very many reviews. Do lenses with a lower Water content dry out less (these are over 65% and I haven't seen anything else that high). I used to wear contacts but it was over 20 years ago

Answers:

As you have found, sometimes high water content lenses do feel dry since they demand a higher percentage of the lens be hydrated with water. Two possible solutions would be to 1) try a lower water content lens or 2) try the new Acuvue Advance toric with hydraclear. The Acuvue lens maintains a high oxygen permeability but addresses the dryness issue with a secret (they're not telling anyone how they do it) lens surface treatment that increases wettability and comfort. I would probably try the Acuvue first and see how you do. So go see your optometrist (in some states they are called optometric physicians) and see how you like them. Good luck.
