Question:
When I get a piece of sand in my eye, or an eye lash, and then it goes away...where does it go?
Answers:
Any foriegn body that reaches the eye eventually goes to one of two places:
1. gets washed by the tears toward the medial end i.e., toward nose where along with the tears it drains into the nasal cavity, theres a small connection between nasal cavity and eyes. thats why your nose waters when you cry
2. it can lodge in a small place underneath the upper eyelid called subtarsal sulcus.if something is lodged here, you'll have irritation of eye whenever you close your eyelids.
