Looking with the eyes?!

Question:

Looking with the eyes?

I dont wear glasses.
I can see loads of tiny little white dots, most noticable when i'm looking at a plain background or clear sky.
Its like looking under a microscope and seeing loads of molecules. They are whizzing around back and forth.

What the hell is it?

leaking vitreous lining or detached inner eye material. The latter doesnt sound very scientific but then neither is my question lol.

which is it??

how do you get both of those problems anyway?.

is the dettached material thing, the flower like shape and colour around the pupil?, and if not what is that, you know the pretty bit, it looks like wheat as in a biscuit.

Some inventive answers there... The one just before mine is the best. The most common cause of 'floaters' is the jelly in your eyes clumping into bits, which you then see floating around in your vision, especially against a light background.

Occasionally it can be a symptom of where the jelly and/or retina has detatched or the retina has torn, which releases blood cells and/or pigment cells into the vitreous, again this appears as many tiny speck-like floaters, or if the jelly has come away, it often looks more stringy.

Rarely, it can be due to an interesting but totally harmless phenomenon called 'asteroid hyalosis', which is where the vitreous develops numerous whitish flecks, for no paricular reason. Its usually in one eye only.

You didn't say whether you have it in one eye or both. Either way I would strongly advise you to have an eye examination with an Optometrist, who will make sure you haven't had a retinal tear.

Edit: whoever gave me a thumbs down, I studied for 4 years to do this job, I kinda know what I'm talking about.
