Does anyone here know anything about tunnel vision or temporary blindness?!

Question:

Does anyone here know anything about tunnel vision or temporary blindness?

When I am sitting down for an extended period of time and I stand up quickly, I lose my sense of balance and sometimes I lose the ability to see for a few moments (usually for about 5-10 seconds). I think this is called tunnel vision, but I am not sure. Can anyone tell me what that is called and/or why it happens to me?

Answers:

In order to answer this one, you need more information. This could be a typical physiological response known as orthostatic hypotension, wherein your blood pressure drops when you stand up. Think about it-all of the blood is being pulled by gravity into your legs and feet, so your body needs to squeeze the vein/arteries smaller in order to pump the blood back up to the heart and more importantly your brain. Hwen this doesn't happen like it should, you experience temporary brain tissue hypoxia, and may feel dizzy and have blurred vision. To sum it up: talk to your physician!
