Can near sighted people get contacts?!

Question:

Can near sighted people get contacts?

i've been wearing glasses for a little over a year and i was wondering if its ok for someone who is near sighted to get contacts. i'm afraid that if i get them then reading things up close will be hard since you cannot take contacts in/out like you can with glasses.

Answers:

YES, Nearsighted people can get contacts. But I think you are really asking about people with PRESBYOPIA, those who are over 40 and are nearsighted and remove their glasses to read. This is a more difficult situation. You can wear reading glasses over the contacts as needed, or try one of the new bifocal contacts. I've had some success lately with the Biomedics EP lens, which corrects distance vision well and about 80% of the near vision, depending upon age.
