Answers:

The reason why you have trouble seeing is because of the anatomy of your eyes. Due to the shape/size of the parts of your eye involved in vision the light isn't focusing on your retina correctly. Staring at the screen of a computer will not change this. It will cause computer vision syndrome. Symptoms include headaches, loss of focus, burning/tired eyes and double/blurred vision. The only group that is at risk for permanent eye damage are young children because there vision is still developing. “Many pediatric computer vision eye doctors believe that heavy computer use among children puts them at risk for early myopia. They point to several recent studies as evidence that computers can have a negative impact on a child's vision”

Anyways I am guessing you’re not a young child so your vision will not get any worse from being on the computer/watching TV. Computer vision syndrome is not permanent when you experience it that just means your eyes need a break. every 20 minutes, focus the eyes on an object 20 feet (6 meters) away for 20 seconds. Also, the use of over-the-counter artificial tear solutions and computer glasses can reduce the effects of CVS.
