Contact Lens Annual Check - Do I go with contacts already in or glasses on?!

Question: Going for my annual contact lens check tomoro, it's not an eye-test just a check to see that my eyes are still healthy.
Can never remember whether I leave lenses in or out when I go! Can anyone help me please? (Especially if you're an optician!)

Either... an eye check is different to an eye test so you will be assessed with lenses in, and out.

With contacts in, the optician will check for comfort, correct movement, and alignment of the lenses on your eyes.

You will most likely have an ophthalmoscopic examination, where the optometrist will look at the retina and back of your eye with an ophthalmoscope (basically a torch with magnified lenses). While this procedure can be performed with contacts in, no doubt you will be asked to "pop them out for a second" so accurate results can be achieved. You may also need to have drops put in your eyes, in which case you will have to remove your contact lenses.

Take your glasses, your contact lenses, and a lens case with solution - what you decide to actually wear will make no difference, as a proper eye check will require lenses in and out to cover all health requirements.

yes you should wear your contacts. that is the entire reason for the appointment.

Contacts in. But take your glasses with you.

go with them in, If they need you to take them out they will give you a case!

I did mine about a month ago...they will ask you to take them off for the actual exam to see if your sight has improved or not.

Wear your contacts and still bring the eyeglasses.

Very often the contact lens can be a different Rx than eyeglasses. I know mine are.

I wear my contacts, do an eye chart with them in, afterward I take them out. Then the eye doctor proceeds to the regular eye exam with the eyeglasses and without.

That way everything is checked. Good luck

I agree with retep 196.

Go with your contacts in, and bring your glasses. They will check you first with the contacts in, then with them out. That has always been my personal experience.
