Bird poop in eye? <---really weird question?!

Question: Here we go: My sister was walking and somehow she got bird poop in her eye (went through her glasses) Is there anything that you would recommend to do? Please no question on how it got there. How should she clean it and stuff?

Your biggest concern would probably be something called Histoplasmosis. Histoplasmosis is a disease caused by the fungus Histoplasma capsulatum. Its symptoms vary greatly, but the disease primarily affect the lungs. Occasionally, other organs are affected. This form of the disease is called disseminated histoplasmosis, and it can be fatal if untreated.

Histoplasmosis grows in soil and material contaminated with bat or bird droppings. Spores become airborne when contaminated soil is disturbed. Breathing the spores causes infection. The disease is not transmitted from an infected person to someone else.

I'm not sure if this is truly a concern, but it did come to mind when I read your question and it might be worth at least calling the doctor and ruling it out as a possibility.

Have a blessed day :-)

Clean it.
Ha, but bird poo in the eye is funny, you gotta admit that.

odd, but jsut wipe it off!

Rinse with water. If you have any lingering irritation, see a doctor.

lotsa water keep flushin it out, but ill tell you, my grandmamma always it was good luck! something good will happen in her life, always nicole

go to hospital/doctor and ask

lololololololololol, sorry. Ummm, i would rinse it for a while and if it felt weird or it hurt then i would call the doctor.

I am from a multicultural family and since I was a child my parents used to do this when I had something in my eyes/my eyes were hurting: You should try this.

Make a light color tea... cool it off so its average temperature (not hot or cold). Take a tea spoon and open your sister eyes and pour some in her eye. Have her move her eyes around. It helps clean the eye. I have NEVER heard of anyone doing this, but I've done it and it helps a lot... better than eye drops.

wrong time to look up..

She should definitely flush her eye out with sterile saline. Make sure she turns her head so it doesn't run into her other eye. Consult an eye doctor to be sure. Since there are all kinds of bacterial concerns, I wouldn't be surprised if the doctor wanted to have her use an antibiotic for a precaution.
