Answers: how long after catarac surgery can I wear contacts

There's very little chance that you existing contact lenses will be appropriate, after cataract surgery.
And to ensure a stable Rx , it will normally be necessary to wait at last 4 weeks after the operation.
(I'd prefer six to be sure, but i'm conservative)

But the aim will normally have been to give you good distance vision without correction while removing the cataract/providing an implant.
This can leave people feeling unbalanced for a while, depending on how quickly the second eye is to be done after the first. Driving may not be advisable, depnding on your particular result.

Also depending on whether you have opted for a conventional correction, monovision or multifocal implants, you masy need temporary ready-made reading glasses (in th e+2.00 to +4.00 range) to tide you over reading and closework until your final Rx can be ascertained.

If you haven't discussed what sort of implants you could opt for, that needs considering carefully.

You should def. call your optometrist and ask them that question just to make sure so you don't damage your eyes. Sight is precious.

Just call your Doc.

When you can see and feel better, with doctor's permission.

you should talk to your doctor about that.

You may not need them anymore: 'Nine out of 10 people who have cataract surgery regain very good vision, somewhere between 20/20 and 20/40'.
But the above posters are right, call your doc.

i think you should get back at the doctor for that info... you dont want to mess around and get a eye infection that may cause blindness.

AND YES!!!! its that serious the body is very susceptible to infections after surgery.
