Why are my sons eyes changing color?!

Question: My son is 12 years old and had really dark dark brown eyes almost black. Last night i noticed they seem to have changed color and now is a lighter brown with a little greenish in it. I thought eyes dont change colors after 3 years old. He is diabetic type 1 could that cause eye color changes? I know it causes vision issues but not color changes. Any ideas anyone?? I am goin to have him go to an eye dr anyways but till then any ideas?
Thanks

it happens to alot. almost 15% of the caucasian population. i happened to know this because i look it up once a year. it happens to me also, even tho im black. i am mixed with white but i doubt that its that significant. im only about 1/4 . so i have come to the conclusion that it happens to all of the races.
when i was a baby, i had dark green eyes, and they eventually turned brown, a light brown yes, but a brown none the less. lately as i teen ive been spending more time in the mirror and notice that they have become more green then before, so much now that they arent even brown anymore but hazle. the reason that i am scared is because around the same time i noticed this change occured, my vision also started to deminish. but the research i have done doesnt support any relationship between the two. maybe u should get your sons eyes checked tho. but they say its normal and eye color will probably continue to change with people throughout their life. which sucks, because dark eyes are my favorite. im progressing closer and closer to green.

My eyes tend to change shades and colors still and I'm 18. I suppose it's normal, but it's a good thing that your taking him to the doctor.
