What are the spots flying around in my vision?!

Question: If I move my eye to the left quickly, I see lil dots that'll move to the left too, same if I move my eyes to the right, up, and down. I have 20/20 vision but I forgot to ask my eye doctor.

They are called "floaters," and they can be very annoying, especially when they are larger and there are many of them within one's line of vision. I have them in both eyes, and when they appeared for the first time, they came very severely and suddenly. I have thousands of them in both eyes; however, some of them have faded over time. The interesting (and quite amazing) thing about the human brain is that it automatically rewires itself to ignore many of them within a few years of having them. At first, I was devastated because I really thought that I was losing my sight - - it was like I was looking through a dirty windshield without any way of cleaning it.

One who encounters floaters for the first time, or one who sees floaters along with "flashers," which are flashes of light that can be seen when one closes his or her eyes in a dark room at night (like a strobe light), then one should seek the attention of an ophthalmologist soon.

Although it can be difficult, try not to worry too much about having floaters. In most cases, floaters in the eyes are harmless, although floaters can be rather annoying or frightening when encountered for the first time in one's life.

High Blood Pressure can cause people to see dots in front of their eyes.
