Is too much computer going to ruin your eyes?!

Question: just curious

Answers: just curious

Yes: computers require your eyes to stay focused for hours at a close distance. your eyes aren't designed for this, and this continuous strain will cause myopia in time. I know lots of cases of this (including myself). So if you use the PC every day at a close distance and without breaks, you will eventually get myopia.

Radiations are a totally different thing. CRTs usually have some radiations, but the effects of these don't include myopia. You can develop myopia from anything: a LCD, a TFT, a CRT, a TV, a book, anything that you look from a small distance during a long period of time.

To PREVENT myopia, you must look at the computer screen from a distance of 60-80 cm and take breaks frequently. There are people that haven't developed myopia though they work a lot at the computer just because of either looking at the PC from a healthy distance or because of using a PC a small amount of hours a day (3-4 and nothing more).

There's also the fatigue that PCs might cause to the eyes, but this is not nearly as bad as myopia.

YeSsSs hehe

Too much computer, reading in dim light, watching TV in a completely dark room...

I have been watching Computer Screens since I was 20. 30 years later I am still watching Computer Screens. I figure if computer Screens were going to ruin my eyes, I would be blind by now, but I am not!

So to answer your question, NOPE!

Highly unlikely specially because CRTs are mostly a thing of the past. However, because your eyes needs to exercise just like any muscle, you do need to focus your vision in distant and close objects every now and then. Just to prevent your eyes from needing glasses at early age.

No.
