Backpacking Help!?!
Question: Im going to be backpacking in New Zealand for about a year. I have poor vision, and need to wear either glasses or eye contacts, and I'm wondering a few things about what I should do while I'm in a foreign country with little extra money, regarding my eyes.
*Contacts--Do they have contacts that you can wear for atleast six months? how much would these cost (ballpark)
*Glasses- I will have a pair no matter what. What brands, what features and materials would be durable and strong enough to brave the wilderness?

there are several extended wear contacts out there, mostly no more than 1 month at a time. Glasses are a definite must if you have bad vision. Polycarbonate, mid-high index, trivex are great for protection and are light weight. No glass or plastic even though they are cheaper to get. You can also have transitions put in where they go from light to dark when UV rays hit them. Flexible frames are great for activities. The extended disposable contacts run about 60 a box, less or more depending on brand, and there are usually 6 contacts in each box, again depending on brand. take lots of solution with you. sterile saline may work as a last result but some contain peroxide which will cause burning. NEVER WEAR CONTACTS FOR 6 MONTHS
