It could be worse, they could be due to a retinal detachment! So if the ophthal says they are normal, that's good!

Don't stress too much, your brain will start to ignore them and you will notice them less and less.

It does sound like a heap of floaters though, I hope they settle.

Everyone has them to some extent. Usually (after a while), you just get used to them and don't notice them.

Question, though: Do you have a bunch of separate floaters, or one big blob?

I had a mass of floaters and a tiny blank spot in my vision. I had it checked out by a retina specialist, and if I would have waited another two weeks, I would have lost the vision in that eye completely. . Don't wait, get checked out by a retinal specialist. A GP doctor won't know enough about it, and neither will most optometrists.

i don't have that many, but I have some and when I'm outside and turn my head, I often think that I'm seeing birds flying by. My eye doc said I was normal.

you should get it checked out by an ophthalmologist (not an optometrist). i had some confusion about the two types but recently had eye pain so went to a real eye doctor (ophthalmologist). i thought it would be just allergies but was surprised when they found a few things.

one thing is the floaters -- i had these for a long time so didn't think anything of it but she told me they are a something to monitor for future problems & could need surgical intervention. also learned i have a small papilloma (yikes!) on the inside of my eyelids (must monitor this too), also have decreased tear production. i did not expect this. it was the first time i had ever been to a real eye doctor and i was a bit blindsided (no pun intended).

since your eye person minimized your floaters -- you might want to go somewhere else. a competent ophthalmologist will give you an opinion not just of the floaters but of your overall eye health. it's worth looking into. : 0 )
