There are several options available to you to manage dry eye and hopefully increase the possibility of success wearing contact lenses. One thing you might consider is punctal occlusion. In this procedure your eye doctor will place very small plugs in the openings to the tear ducts in your lids that drain tears from the eye. By blocking the drainage of your tears, more of your natural tears will remain available to wet the contact lenses. Of course, you also have the option of regular use of tear supplements to artificially increase the fluid available to wet your contacts. There is also the option of having your doctor prescribe Restasis in an effort to stimulate your eyes to produce better quality tears. (I'm not a big fan of Restasis though because it can burn like fire and it isn't cheap). Another option is the use of oral nutritional supplements. Some recent studies have shown that taking oral nutritional supplements containing fish oils and Omega 3 supplements can significantly improve the quality of tears. Sometimes just one of these can make a difference. Sometimes patients have to use several options. It just depends on how severe your dry eye is and how motivated you are to deal with the dry eye based upon how important wearing contacts is to you. Hope this helped.

A lot of that can be allergic or irritation due to pollution.
Opcon A drops can sometimes help (They are OTC in US).

not the duct , it's the gland that is not secreting , you can try using the new restasis but it's an Rx drug , so go to your eye doc and ask him .
