When will i gain my perfect sight?!

Question: im 14 years old and i have been wearing glasses for 5 years now and i have changed glasses 3 times and my current glasses have been on my face for over 1 year an d a half and i feel slight improvement. however everytime i have been changing my glasses it was always to a stronger prescription. i have myopia.
i heard that wearing glasses all the time might deterriorate your vision on the other hand if the optian says all the time, then it should be allt he time. i have heard of eye exercises and pack called rebuildmyvision or something like that.
i dont know exactly how bad my vision is as in i dont know how many points im off from 20/20.
can anyone tell me the truth about what can make my vision good again and what i should do.
thank you

Right first of all let me explain exactly what myopia is. Light is focused by its lens system, the cornea and the crystalline lens inside the eye, onto the retina, the light sensitive part. In your case the light is being focused in front of the retina hence the blur unless you hold an object close to you. I wont go into why that happens as you would need to understand geometric optics. Okay with me so far. Why is this happening. Either your eyeball is too long or the eyes lens system is too powerful or a combination of both. Right so what can you do about it.
How are exercises going to shorten your eye or reduce the power of its lens system. Short answer they will not.

Spectacles load to choose from and how many times must I say this. THEY DO NOT MAKE YOUR EYES WORSE. All they do is put your out of focus cameras, your, eyes into focus. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO WEAR THEM, this will make no difference your sight but you might just walk under a bus!

Contact lenses are a good option as long as you care for them and get regular checkups.

Laser surgery I don't think I would suggest this option until you have finished growing and your prescription has stabilised.

There is also on the market a contact lens that you sleep in. It is claimed they can temporally improve your vision. They do this by flattening the cornea. I am deeply suspicious of the method.

To sum up get your advice from qualified practitioners and not wishful thinkers, we do not go in for "holistic" approaches because a) they don't work and b) often the people advocating them have no idea how our vision works.

It probably won't ever be perfect- though do take short breaks from wearing glasses.

The only thing you could do it laser or contacts.

Listen to your optician, doctor and parents.
They will only do what is best for you!

I have worn glasses since I was a tiny child & can honestly say that my optician has never, ever even suggested that there are exercises or anything that will improve my sight.
No member of my family that wear galsses have been told abything like that either. To be honest, I think the only thing you can do is get your eyes tested regularly & follow any opticians orders.
Some people, depending on what the problem with their eyes is, have opted for lasersurey which appears to make your sight practically perfect. Unfortunately, this option is not possible for everyone, myself included.

I am also short-sighted and have been wearing glasses for many years since I was 14. In the early years, up until age 21, my prescription got stronger and stronger but has remained quite steady from then on. I have spoken to an eye surgeon about this and he states that it is simply a growth thing and not ( usually ) pathalogical i.e. any illness in involved. Our human bodies are perfect things in many ways but not when it comes to vision as so many people suffer from sight defects. My understanding is that exercises/therapy is worse than useless in the main and you should just ( for now ) accept your blur and become comfortable with it. But, as you get older, you can explore contacts and even laser treatment although I honestly feel that needs a lot more research. And who knows what the future will bring? As for a cure, any man who can produce that will have made himself a fortune overnight. Just keep an eye ( sorry for the pun ) on things and keep asking questions as you go along. But it is important not to get stressed over something that affects millions ( as I did when I was you age! )

Yes there are various exercise systems that claim to help eyesight, the important thing to remember is that they may not actually help your eyesight but they are mostly concerned with things like relaxation and will not do you any harm if you do them with an open mind and without false expectations. At best they can help with muscular tension, stiff necks and the like.
The first system was called the Bates Method and dates from about the 1920s, most later systems are developments and extensions of this. If you do a Google search for this and things like 'natural eyesight correction' you might find something helpful, bear in mind though that a lot of commercial practitioners market these systems now for considerable sums of money, but there are some self-help books out there if you find one you can relate to.
I have taken the unusual step of wearing less than full strength correction glasses for my myopia over the past few years, which I feel more comfortable with, and they do seem to postpone the need for bi-focals as I get older, but I'd obviously be irresponsible to recommend anything like this to you at this stage!
Basically if you want to at least try to stop your myopia getting significantly worse over and above the normal growth process, you also just have to observe general health rules, which also won't do you a lot of harm. I really think that getting enough sleep is important so that your eyes don't get overtired and overstimulated with artificial light. Diet is important too, enough fresh fruit and vegetables as well as adequate protein and not too much sugar.
Of course your opticians won't tell you anything about the holistic approach because they are trained in an opposite direction but if you want to do your own research and see if you can find anyone who exercises have actually worked for, then I don't see why you shouldn't go ahead and do so keeping all your critical faculties about you!
Good luck.
