Eye spectacles at young age is heredity?!

Question: I know a girl who has spectacles since the age of 7. I am considering her as a good marriage prospect. In her family, her father wears glasses and all her uncles ( 10) wear glasses even her cousins had glasses at very young age.

I am 27 years of age and working in IT field so eventually I will have glasses. :-)

1) is the above problem is due to heredity?
2) does this come from mother side or father side or could be from both the side?
3) What about chances of my next generation will be affected with this early age eye weakness problem?

In my family no body wears glasses. If this problem is from father side then my future generation will be safe but it is from mother side then is there any solution to get rid off this kinds of problem so that next generation will not have eye weakness problem.

Thank you,
Sam.

Yes, there a huge hereditary factor, but it's not totally clear-cut. Sometimes two very myopic parents can have a child with perfect vision, and sometimes two parents with perfect vision can have a very myopic child. Geneticists understand how it works up to a point, but surprises occur. I myself know of a family with a father who is very myopic, while the mother has normal vision. One child is slightly myopic, the other VERY hyperopic. Doctors who have been asked why this happened have just shrugged.

Oh, and BTW, at 27 there's every chance that if you still have normal vision, it will stay with you until presbyopia hits.

You're going to have a whole family of four eyes.
