Eye contacts?!

Question: how damaging is it for you to sleep with your contacts? and never take them out.

Answers: how damaging is it for you to sleep with your contacts? and never take them out.

Depending on the type of contacts you have. I have to take mine out to sleep in, and soak them in saline solution for at least 4 hours every night to remove the protein etc, clense and rehydrate them. If I dont they become too dirty and can irritate the eye, cause a build up of bacteria and even lead to infections causing blindness (if you sleep in them on a regular basis) I replace my contacts every 30 days with a new pair. But I have friend who has "breathable" lenses that she can wear 24/7 for up to a month before replacing them with a fresh set.

it depends some people like me have to take them out and clean them with mine my optomictris said dont sleep with them in because you can get infections but some people have contacts that they just have to take out every 2 weeks and just give a quick clean and yeah and they can keep using them but it depends how long they can keep using them because there are three diferent types of contacts weeklys monthlys and yearlys if you get breathable contacts you dont have to take them out till its been a week [if they are weekly and ect]

lenses like purevision and focus night and day have been approved by FDA for 30 days continuous wear due to their high oxygen transmissibility and non-ionic nature. however, no exteneded wear is ever safe.

during eye closure, your tears are stagnant, forbiding it to wash away any debris and germs. having contacts in your eyes would attract the bacteria and stuff to it since it is a good medium for growth. and stagnant tears cannot wash it away. this greatly increases the chance of infection.

and if u do (hopfully not!) you cannot wear lenses for the next few months after recovery. a microbial infection can cause you to go blind if not treated soon enough. would you want to risk it?

well.... type of contacts aside.. you run the risk of eye infections that worst case could cost you your vision best case damage your eyes so that you can't wear contacts. issues can range from conjunctivitis to ulcers of the eye.
