How reliable is LASIK for someone who's eyes may not be done changing?!

Question: I've been thinking about LASIK, but I have astigmatism; also while the changes in my eyes have been slowing down a lot with age (29 years old), I'm sure my prescription will need to be stronger again in a few years. What are my options? Does LASIK make sense, or will I just need surgery again in a few years?

There are guidelines that are used to gauge how stable your prescription is. If over a year there is little change, then in most cases you would be considered suitable.

At your age, I would hardly imagine your prescription would do a whole lot of changing. In Australia, many surgeons offer retreatment over a given period should there be any change.

A good idea would be to have an assessment at a laser clinic and they should be able to give you a good idea of what your likely outcome would be.

Do you only have astigmatism? or are you myopic and astigmatic? The latter would usually have a better outcome.

if at this age your degree is still increasing, it is not advisable to go for lasik.
i believe it is an increasing length of your eyeball that is causing the increase in degree. this is something lasik cannot correct. what lasik does is that it cuts off part of your cornea to decrease to your desired prescription but it cannot prevent any increase

Maybe a check of eye condition with the doc will be the best. Lasik does make sense but surely all need to wear spect after the age of 40.
