Stye, does this medicine work?!

Question: My doctor gave me Gentamicin Sulfate Ophthalmic Ointment. I tried it for 2 days but stopped because some of it gets into my eyes and it gets annoying. I started using it again. I had my stye for over 3 months now and it's not going away. Will this medicine work?

and I tried the warm compress thing and it does not work.

If the ointment gets in your eye, it won't hurt anything, just temporarily blur your vision, as it's so thick. I'll be honest with you, Gentamycin is not usually the drug of choice, as most people develop a sensitivity to it, and can actually impede the healing of a stye or chalazion. Being as the stye has been there for over 3 months, I'm willing to bet it's a chalazion. Do hot compresses, and see an eye doc. You may need a course of oral antibiotics such as Doxycycline, and it probably needs to be drained

use the med its supposed to get in your eye.

styes should not last for 3 months
they last a week at the most

A stye is an infection, not unlike a pimple. The antibiotic ointment will definitely help with the infection. The compresses should help too - hold them in place for at least 5 minutes.

Sometimes styes take months to go away, and sometimes they need to be cut out in a very simple procedure. I would take the antibiotics for 10 days and see where you get.
