Is it now safe to stare directly into the sun wearing UV protective eye wear?!

Question: I'm interested in the benefits of phototherapy or SAD light therapy but the boxes are too much for me to afford. Suggestion are you stare directly into this light and it has no UV. These lights are recommended 10,000 lux. So do you think i can just cheap out and use the sun?

no.

nopesss.

No! No no no!

No, absolutely not. And the old smoked glass trick is still dodgy. The only safe filter to look through are heavy duty stuff like welder's goggles, and even then, not for long. Don't risk it. The damage happens so fast you won't even feel it.

OMG, NO NO NO
Never stare into the sun, you will damage your eyes and not even know it for a while. No matter what you wear, staring into the sun is never any good on your eyes, surely, your sight is more precious to you that looking at the sun, get yourself a plant grow light bulb, put it into a lamp and sit next it, apparently it is as good as a 'sad light unit', as it gives off some type of rays similar to the sun, but without any danger, although l am sure it will not be as good as a 'sad unit', but better than nothing.
