Contact Discomfort?!

Question: hey, i had a question about my troubles with contacts. I've been wearing them for just under a month, and i started to notice that its painful to blink sometimes when I have my contacts in. If i take them out, it takes a while for the pain to go away. It feels sort of like theres something in my eye that is scratching my eyelid. usually its only in one eye. I thought it might be that when i dry my hands the fuzzy lint from my towels gets on the lense? If you have any ideas, thanks!

(I'd bet you have a tear in your lens!)

do you wear soft lenses? if so. when you take your contact out tonight, open it up and balance it on your finger like you were about to put it in your eye. inspect the edges for tears, look for a filmy coating on your lens, or lint, etc. if you have a tear change to a new pair of contacts, for a filmy coating rub your contact with fresh solution then rinse w/ fresh solution, for lint rinse your contact with fresh solution. if that does not fix the problem ask your eye dr.

do you wear hard/gas perm lenses? if so, do a similar examination like above except you will have to hold the contact vertical between your fingers to inspect it. there won't be tears on hard lenses. do look for lint or a filmy coating on the lens. if you see that you need to clean your lenses with cleansing solution and rinse, then place in fresh soaking solution overnight.

for lint free contacts paper towels tend to work well!

I agree with Rach. - if what she says doesn't help, maybe your contacts just fit poorly. Have the dr. take a look at the fit to make sure it's right. Poor fitting contacts are very uncomfortable - you may need a different base curve.
