Do I have blephartis?!

Question: Here's my condition, I have very dry eyes. Most days I can only tolerate contact for 4 to 6 hours. Some days I can wear them 10 hours, some days not at all. I have noticed my eyelashes matting together, and sometimes white bumps on my lower eyelids. But neither of these are pronounced and nobody would notice them unless you looked really hard.

Usually my eyes are dry in the morning when I wake up, then I throw some Systane in there, and they are better for a while. Then, about 4 to 6 hours later, they dry out again and I have to take out my contacts.

I have worn contacts for about 20 years, 10 of them with Acuvue where I wore them overnight and didn't take great care of my eyes.

I have tried every eyedrop on the planet, and they only serve to irritate my eyes in the long run. Once my eyes decide they are dry, there's nothing I can do to re-hydrate them. I also take Thera Tears omega 3 pills, which haven't seemed to help at all.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

It's sounds like you do have blepharitis. I've had it twice when I used to wear hard lenses. What you're describing is exactly what happened to me! Go to you eye doctor for an exam. He/she can give you antibiotic drops and an antibiotic gel to rub on the edge of your eyelids. Prolly will clear it up in a couple weeks.

I found it helpful to go w/out my contacts for about a week while I was using the drops and gel to give my eyes a chance to heal.
