Scared about contacts...?!

Question: I`ve warn glasses for so long and now i have to get braces and I really don`t want to go around with both since i`ve already given my classmates enough ammo to tease me with (glasses, lack of fashion, shyness, etc). i want to get contacts but am terrified about it and have loads of questions:
1. do i have to go to my eye doctor to buy them? (i always see those flexible contact lenses at the shopmart)
2.how expensive?
3. how do i put them in?
4. clean them?
5. take them out?
6. how long can i wear them in a day?
7. how often do i have to replace them? (once a year, etc)
8. do they ever become 'stuck' in your eye?

so many dumb questions i know, but if i get some answers i won`t be as scared and i think i`ll be alright going to get them.

hi!!

1)yes you have to go to the eye-doctor
2)the prices can vary, but once again just talk to your eye-doctor about the most affordable ones
3,4,5---the eye doctor will teach you ALL of that!!
6)you can pretty much wear them all day but you cannot sleep in them
7)it depends on what type you get, there are some that you switch out everyday and others that you do every 2 weeks, i personally like the 2 weeks ones, they are a better price then the daily ones
8)no, it may be a little bit difficult removing them at first but taking them out is sometimes easier then putting them in, if you have trouble removing them feel free to ask you doctor about methods on how to remove them easily

So good luck!! i just recently got contacts and i LOVE them!!

And hun, don't worry about those kids at school, they are shallow and ignorant and don't know what they are missing out on, b/c one day you are gonna have a Beautiful smile, they only tease you because of their own insecurities, so just ignore them...screw them, they've got nothing on you gurrrll!!!
So walk like your on a run way, the world is yours and you can make it anything you want!!

you do have to go to an eye doctor for a prescription and fitting. After that, you can buy them online. There are several different websites, just do a search on contact lenses and they will come up. You can get the prices there as well. The price will vary depending on your needs, such as if you need prisms or if you have astigmatism. Your eye doctor can tell you all of that.

They are easy to clean. You soak them in cleaning solution when you are not wearing them.

Your doctor's office will teach you how to insert them and remove them.

At first, you will only wear them for a couple of hours, and then you will build up to wearing them all day. However, you may adapt to them very well and be able to wear them all day very quickly.
Some of them you can even sleep in, and you take them out and replace them weekly.

Depending on they type you get will decide how often they need to be replaced.

It is unlikely they can get stuck in your eye.

1. Yes, ask your friends and family if the know if a good eye doctor that is good at fitting people with a good pair of contacts.
2. If you have a astigmatism, like I do they may cost 199.00 and the evaluation and fitting should be about 75 dollars.
3. The assistant will show you how to hold your eye open and put in the contacts.
4. Ask the assistant at the eye place to show you how to properly clean your contact.
5. You will use the same technique that you use to put them in your eyes to remove them.
7. They should be replace once a year.
6. unsure

Good Luck,

Like the others said your eye doctor can help u and will tell u of all that. Also if those kids keep messing with u tell them to back off, or someone who will make them chillax, u shouldn't have to be taking that crap. BUt don't worry whatgoes around comes around. If i were u i would ask the doctor about both that way if u r still self conscious about wearing glasses at school u can wear them out side of school, i think if u try contacts etc. it won't be so scary once you get used to all of it and understand how to use them. One more thing..if u do getthem always have clean hands when putiing in or out!!!.

Dude, chill. I was E X A C T L Y
like you my first time ;) the eye doctor will tell you everything you need.

1. Yes, you should really go to a doctor. There they will get your prescription, measure your eye, etc.

2. It depends on the kind you get

3. Your eye doctor will tell you how to do this

4. Your eye doctor will explain this to you when you learn how to put them in

5. Your eye doctor will show you one or two ways to do this, but everyone has their own way of doing this

6. It depends on what kind of contacts(daily wear, day and nights), but whatever is comfortable.

7. Again, it depends on the kind. Some kinds you wear a new pair every day, my mom has 2 weeks, my brother and sister have 1 months, I have 2 months. But 2 months is just about the limit.

8. Once, and that was when I very first got them and I couldn't take them out very well, but I got them out in about 20 minutes, so don't worry.

These aren't all dumb questions. I had these same questions when I got mine. Just focus on what you are doing, and you'll be just fine.
