Why do I get blurred vision whenever I sit down and watch a movie?!

Question: I know it is eyestrain but I have never had any eye problems in the past. It seems like I can stare at a computer screen for hours but cant sit down and watch a movie for two hous. How can I prevent this? Am I doing something wrong? Or should I just go the eye doctor? Go to the drugstore and buy some reading glasses? Please help.

By spending hours on the computer screen, the eye muscles go into a spasm at that focal field...all seems fine until you sit down to watch a movie, or get into a car and drive and then your vision is blurred because your focal field is stuck at the computer screen distance. Its not uncommon at all, but you should speak to an optometrist to get some eye exercises which will help your focus...or even a vocational type pair of glasses which might allow your eyes to more easily shift between the two main focal fields of computer and distance....and in the meantime, when spending more than half an hour at the computer, make a point of looking up and focussing at something as far away as possible and do this every 15 to 20 minutes. It will help. Good luck.

I recommend you going to the eye doctor.

i'm the head of neurology department, try and go to the hospital or go to a glass shop

How old are you? With age you might be developing eye strain easier. Rest your eyes by going out to the concession stand or to the bathroom. On your way, look at things close, then far, then close, then far. Such as the floor, and then the farthest wall. This helps the muscle that makes the lens in your eye contract and dilate rest.

Good luck!
