There is not a wide variety. You will find that your options are very limited when you get to the eye doc. Accuvue makes contacts for mild astigmatisms, other than that Bauch and Lomb makes contacts for severe astigmastism. Be warned that contacts for astigmatism can cost double the average contacts!

Both Acuvue and Freshlook offer contacts for astigmatism, and there are quite a few other brands that do too. Both are pretty reasonably priced, and I've heard a lot of good things about the Acuvues for astigmatism. Your eye doctor may or may not accept your recommendation of brand; he may feel another brand is better suited for you, but it's worth it to suggest other kinds just to see what he says and why.

There is a few good ones around like SL toric, purevision toric. Both good in the stability of the lenses. Offer good vision throughout the day.

Ultimately, your doctor will know best. However, you may want to speak to your doctor about these popular lenses which contain a new material called Silicon Hydrogel:

Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism (manufactured by Johnson and Johnson)

PureVision Toric (by Bausch and Lomb)

Another popular, commonly prescribed lens is called Soflens 66 Toric by Bausch and Lomb.
