Visual Acuity Form

If you wear glasses or contact lenses, you are required to have a Visual Acuity Form completed by your optician. The completed form must be returned with your application.

The eyesight requirements for the Force have recently changed:

Uncorrected visual acuity: 6/36 (or better) both eyes together.

Corrected visual acuity: 6/12 (or better) in each eye.

Binocular vision (+/- correction) : 6/6 (or better).

Near vision (+/- correction) : N9 (or better).

Laser Surgery: applicants will be rejected if they have had Radial Keratotomy(RK), Arcuate Keratotomy(AK), corneal grafts or any other procedure that results in a weakening of the cornea as there is a measurable risk of corneal rupture of the eye.

Good luck!

Have you got the police form? You can call or email them to cheak. If you have got the form you only have 30 days to return it.

Until fairly recently, there wasn't a national standard, though most of the forces had similar requirements.
Some of the information pages on the internet haven't caught up with this.
(unless things have changed since 2003, and I'm out of date!)

With your prescription the question is going to be over your vision *without* glasses.
The standards were *lowered* here in 2003, requiring only 6/36 (2nd line on standard chart)

You'd need to get an optometrist to assess that, along with colour vision, if you've never had it checked.

it was definately him??

are you sure you can successfully pursue the cause of justice knowing eyesight normally only deteriorates.
