I have the cylindrical power of -1 in my left eye....?!

Question: I have the cylindrical power of -1 in my left eye. But so far i have been pretty satisfied with normal lenses. Should I go for a toric pair of lenses? If i settle for the normal pair, would it do any harm to my eye?

If you are happy with your current spherical contacts, and you are still reading the 20/20 line on the chart and the doctor is satisfied with how you are doing with the lenses, then I would say leave well enough alone and stick with what you are wearing.

As your cylindrical power (your astigmatism) increases, you will also notice increased blurriness and fuzziness and also increased discomfort with your spherical lenses. Once you hit that point, then you can switch.

I'm curious what your spherical power is because if that number is very high, a lot of times the cyl correction isn't as important.

It would be more important in a prescription like this:
-0.25 -1.00 x 180

Than it would be in a prescription like this:
-8.50 -1.00 x 180

Just curious!

i had the power of grey-skull once........ahh, those were the days !

Ask the optician. They will know which is better for you and which will harm you.

don't take any advice off the net or u can screw up your eyes 4 ever go to an opptomotrest cant spell its an eye doctor
