Bloodshot eyes?!

Question: I woke up about a week ago with bloodshot eyes ... not a drop of alcohol to drink. My eyes are still bloodshot. They feel like after swimming with too much chlorine in the pool and I look satanic. The whites are a light red color ... no "roadmap" looking red veins. I've been putting in eye drops that contain an antibiotic. If they don't clear up in the next day or so ... yea, I'm going to the eye doctor. Does anyone know what this could be from and how to clear them up?

Because eyes are bloodshot doesn't mean they are infected. If you are having no discharge with the red I highly doubt an antibiotic drop will do anything to clear the red. What you have is called a subconjunctival hemorrhage. It's not as serious as it sounds. Usually it's caused when a small blood vessel under the conjunctiva breaks and bleeds spontaneously or from heavy coughing, lifting, vomiting OR can occasionally happen from elevated blood pressure or with people who have diabetes. Have your blood pressure checked and get a good lubricating drop from your local drugstore, I recommend systane or soothe and put it in every hour or so. If your not having visual disturbances, it should fade within several days completely. hope that helps.

Could be pink eye (conjunctivitis). You will need to get antibiotics to clear it up.

you have ancecamisporosus. it's serious.
