Interesting Question Opinions Please?!

Question: From what I understand the bates method of improving eye issues such as myopia is proven to not be possible.... My question is how thousands of people have been so successful with it

I mean look at forums on iblinldness.org (http://www.iblindness.org/community/inde...

Could ALL this people just be lying, many of these people seem VERY sincere and swear by the method... there are some stories where people correct like -5 Diopeters.... its ridiciouls

what do you guys think about this, if its disproven as bunk how are there thousands of people all over the world that swear by it??

just a thought!

thanks :)

Hi Vadim:) My grandfather tried this back in the 60's (it's a VERY old book). He followed the instructions to the letter and found it was a complete waste of money. I have since met a person who claimed she had success with it. I think she was deluded frankly, she just convinced herself her sight had improved. She still looked like she was squinting to me............

hmm in not real sure on this ihavent heard any one say 1st hand that it worked... but look at all of the diets out there and how they all work ?? Well do they?? hmm

I think the truth may be somewhere in the middle. I don't know how someone would improve their eyesight by 5 diopters with exercise. On the other hand, I've read Dr Bates book and he does make some reasonable conclusions. His book talks a lot about how to avoid eye strain, how to use accommodation and how to use memory as an eye training aid. If you read his book don't expect to agree with everything, but I found it interesting. Just a warning though, the way he words things make it a bit hard to understand in places primarily because of the time period it was written. It was first published in 1919.

Thousands may swear by it but you won't find thousands have been successful with it. Even Bates stated that fewer than 1 out of 10 people have "functional myopia" which can be treated by his exercises.

And did you actually read the iblindness forums? If you did, you would see that there are just a handful of posters, not thousands. Check out the forum called "success stories" -- you will find very few have eliminated their need for glasses. They are very sincere and want to believe but you will find that most have simply chosen to stop wearing their glasses and are not seeing well.
