What makes your eyesight go bad?!

Question: My eyesight used to be perfect , in 7th grade, but now i am in 10th grade , and i can't even see the board in any of my classes , even if i am setting up front. So i need glasses, my question is what makes your eyesight go bad, is it too T.V , or is it something else. My dad said i can't watch T.V that much anymore , because he said that's why my eyesight went bad. Is that true ?

It is not TV, unless you watch TV two feet away.
Myopia is caused by excessive close work such as reading, writing, drawing, knitting, computer work, video game, playing with toys, etc. which you do less than 2 feet away.

WARNING: Prescription Glasses Have Side Effects --
Worsen Children's Nearsightedness

Children's Nearsightedness Continues To Get Worse Because Their Eyes Cannot Tolerate The Side Effects of Prescription Glasses.

Children CANNOT tolerate the SIDE EFFECTS of the prescription glasses, which cause their nearsightedness to get worse. (This also applies to adults whose nearsightedness still gets worse.)

International Myopia Prevention Association (IMPA) have filed a Petition at the FDA requesting enforcement action to require eye care professionals to issue written warnings to parents that distance glasses worsen myopia in children.
The failure to advise parents that myopia can be reduced or prevented constitutes unlawful misbranding.

LOL, no, tv DIDN'T do it. A lot of times kids eyes change throughout puberty... I recommend drinking lots of water, taking a multivitamin and trying to eat healthier. Your eyesight may improve. It often does with kids your age. But, until then, wear your glasses, and tell your dad to buy you a video game.

Video games (first person/shooting) do actually help your eyes, playing games like that help you focus more accurately, and quicker. playing them in short sessions 30 minutes a day. its like eye exercise.

No, too much close work or TV does not cause or exacerbate myopia. If it did, we could cure farsightedness. We can't. When these snake oil salesmen who sell myopia cures start curing farsighted people with minus lenses, which is the same principle, then and only then will we take them seriously.

Genetics and age is what makes you myopic, it classically starts during the teens, worsens a little for a few years then stops in your twenties.
