What is going on with my eye?!

Question: I wear contacts and sleep in them a few nights a week, which is no problem as my optomistric said it was okay. Well, last night I only got 5 hours of sleep and woke up feeling really tired. One of my eyes was extremely sensitive to light (any type of light) and I had to keep shutting it and shielding it from the light. I took my contact out and the eye reacted the same way. I put the contact in to go to work, but the brigth sunlight also kept me from opening it all the way. That eye is red. What is going on? I never knew lack of sleep equated to me not being able to adjust my eyes fully to the light....

maybe something got under your contact or some bacteria got in your eye and it got irritated. I sleep with my contacts in A LOT. Like I've gone weeks at a time.

About once every 3 months or so, I'll wake up with one of my eyes completely bloodshot and a little swollen. I know it's probably bad for me, and I try to take my contacts out before going to sleep nowadays too. I just wear my glasses for 2 days and it's completely gone. I'm not sure what's going on with your eye, but it's probably due to some dirt or something that irritated it while your contacts were in, and you slept with them.

wtf?????
that's weird! idk what it is but i think you should keep it away from light. maybe wear sunglasses or something... and get more sleep tonight and see what happens!

Light sensitivity and a red eye means eye infection or eye inflammation. You need to see your eye doctor.
