No. In order to test for glaucoma a trained eye doctor needs to check the pressure level of each of your eyes. To do this, your eyes are numbed and a little device that looks (so I'm told. I'm blind) sort of like a big pen attached to a machine is pressed lightly against the surface of each eye, sometimes moved to different points on the surface. The machine beeps a lot, and it's important you try not to blink. It usually only takes about half a minute. The machine reads out a number and if the number is very high (well above normal) than it's likely you have glaucoma, or some other problem causing extra eye pressure. Glaucoma can cause you to lose your vision if it isn't treated, but it is fairly easy to treat. There is medication, usually in the form of eyedrops, that can control it, or a surgery can be performed to clear or re-open the little canal that allows fluids to drain away from the eye. If glaucoma is extremely severe and other treatments don't work, a shunt (very tiny tube) may be implanted in your eye to keep that drainage path open and working properly. I have a shunt in my eye, and haven't had glaucoma problems since.

No, the test for galucoma if performed at the Dr office only. The test is measuring the pressure in the eye and you computer screen is not set up to do that. If you see an eye doctor every one to two years then you should be receiving a glaucoma test as a regular part of your eye exam. If this is not the case then I reccomend looking for a Dr that includes it as part of the routine exame.

Nope. You have to be examined in person to have the pressure inside your eyes measured.

So far opthamology has not gone online. The Glaucoma test checks the pressure in your eye. There are 2 types of tests, one uses a puff of air the other lightly touches eye. No pain, just odd. See eye doctor. :)

Very definitely no!!! Glaucoma can be found very easily by having a sight test and unless it is in your family history it will be most unlikely. I know computers are very clever they are not meant to tie you to the house.

This is very possibly the most ignorant question I've seen on here.
