Blood vessel burst in my eye?!

Question: This morning when I put contacts in , I noticed that a blood vessel in my eye pop last night. I've never had one pop before nor have I ever had high blood pressure but I do wear contacts for about 18 hours a day for the last maybe 10 years. Could wearing contacts so much have caused this to happen? I don't particularly like the bloody eye look so is there anything I can do to help it go away faster? Also, is there anything I should avoid in order to not make it worse?

Any answers will be much appreciated!

The odd single subconjunctival haemorrhage is of no significance, no more than a nosebleed is.

If they recur, or there has been any recent head trauma, or your general health is in question, or you are taking an medication which might thin or thicken blood, then it's not such a safe assumption and a medical opinion should be sought..

They're not normally associated with contact lens wear, except occasionaly with poor removal techniques.

Like a black eye or bruise, there's nothing much to speed up the recovery.
Slapping on a medicinal leech to suck the blood out is WAY out of fashion.

i dont think it is because of your contacts. many people around my age have their eye vessels pop, w/ slightly blood look, because of stress. this happens to me and my friends alot as well, so maybe it is because you are stressed out.
