What is happening to my eyesight?!

Question: It started 10 years ago when I started seeing in "frames" of vision - like a slide show. It lasts for 30 min to 1 hour, and the frames move irratically. Sometimes I see what I last saw superceded over what is in front of me.
At the same time I become hungry.
My eye doc said "there's something wrong with my wiring>"
If it's neurological, I can understand why this might trigger a hunger reponse, but it could it also be related to hypoglucemia (sp)? The occurrence is becoming more frequent and it happens in late afternoon.

I had a similar eyesight problem, it might be the same thing. when I was about 8 I needed to wear glasses to correct my vision for about 3 months and the prescription was wrong. As I understand the problem I had can occur naturally, without outside intervention like my stupid doctor. After wearing the darn glasses for about a month I started to have these very scary episodes (remember I was 8) in which my eyesight would blur out completely, I couldn't see a thing and as the episode was ending I used to see bits and pieces of what was around me but all mixed up, like a giant scrambled puzzle, it's hard to describe but it was scary and I used to loose my balance, the episodes would last for anywhere from 10 minutes to 30. it used to happen once or twice a day and it was horrible. I went to a doctor and I had to do these exercises for 6 months in which there was this machine and I would look into it and the doctor would move different images in front of my eyes and I had to follow them, at the beginning I could only see about half of the picture, it was strange but in the end i got better. I'm 22 now and I still have these episodes sometimes but they occur every 6 months to a year and they only last a few minutes now and now I can tell if one is about to happen because about 10 minutes before it does happen I can't focus my eyes on any image.

the disease is called nystagmus if I remember correctly and it can't be cured as I understand but the symptoms can be alleviated significantly, just like it happened to me. Best of luck Report It

Yes, it could be sugar related. Better see a Doctor other than your eye doctor

It is not uncommon for an eye doctor to diagnose someone as diabetic- which is not a bad thing, except when you dont know! If there is a history of diabetes in your family and for your own peace of mind- I highly recommend you go to your regular doctor for some simple blood tests. Diabetes is a mean, sneaky disease that most often starts affecting the vision.
