Is it safe to leave disposable contact lenses in for 5 days before removing them!

Question: The eye doctor told me that I am supposed to take them out at the end of the day and do not go to sleep or take a shower with them on, but I can't seem to get them off, and I can't make it to the eye doctor until Monday. They are closed Sat and Sun, and today I have work early. I am new to contact lenses, so I need help removing them. Is their any way other then the pinching method to get them to come out. Should I also buy eye drops, so bacteria don't grow in the contact lenses that I am wearing. What should I do.

It is best to take them out daily, because your eyes need a break from them, and they also need to have at least 6 hrs of storing in a contact lens case with solution, to condition the lenses, and remove proteins and/or bacteria. If you absolutely cannot get them out, buy some of the AMO Blink N Clean eye drops; they help remove proteins and deposits while you are wearing your lenses.

My number one suggestion would be to go to a Wal-Mart Vision Center though; most of them are open on Saturdays. Even if it isn't your regular eye doctor. It shouldn't cost you much, if anything. They can help you take them out. There are also little plunger-type things you can buy online that help you in removing soft or hard contact lenses.

Here's one website that has a few tools for inserting and removing contacts. http://www.aclens.com/accessory_index.as...

That is very very very very bad! Your eye could contract bacteria more quickly which means you could get infections and that means no contacts ever. Really get to the eye doctor

!! Are you crazy?

Try and get away early and go to the eye doctor. I strongly suggest you do not leave it until monday. If you have slept with them in they will have dried out and will be even harder to get out.

no it is very bad to keep them in your eyes for 5 days i assume that you are one of those ppl who cant touch their eyes.
sometimes if you rub your eyes a lot they will come out. or try pouring eye liquid in your eyes to make them less sticky.

I have the same kinds of contacts. You can take a shower in them. But you can't sleep in it cause it hurts so badly. You could look up, put your finger on the contact, and slowly move it down and they should come off. Thats what I do. If you are going to buy eye drops, be sure to get the right ones. (Don't ask me which ones cause I have no idea.)

Crazy!!! just move them with the tip of your finger to the edge of your eye and when you can peel them off .....easy!

Take them off. Non compliance is going to cause you much grief with your contacts- Overwear can cause other problems- some of which are eye infections.

Sorry to sound rough, but contacts require responsible use!

The reason they need to come out is because they will dry out. Disposable contacts are made up almost entirely of water and will dry out fast. You don't want these things drying out in your eyes, your retinas can be scratched and otherwise damaged.
As far as taking them out, I can't help you there as I only use the pinch method, I've been wearing contacts for about 12 years and its easy for me now. I don't even need a mirror to put them in or take out.

Don't feel so bad because I'm sooo much worse that you. I think I'm going to shock everyone here by my confession.

I wear contacts that last one month. And I have left them in my eyes, without taking them out at all, for four months.

Nothing has happened to my eyes, no dryness, no infection, no redness. I don't know if I was just lucky, but I have wondered if what I'm doing is right.

I don't think that leaving it ( as it is your first time) over the weekend will be that much of a problem. If you can't take them out, then leave them in rather that hurt your eye trying.

you should follow doctor advice. eyes is our important property. without eyes world are meaningless. so better be careful when use contact lenses.

No, it is not safe, you can pull your cornea off. Try the Blink-and-Clean drops- I swear by them. Put a couple drops in each eye and pull gently at the outer corner of your eyelids to allow the drops to permeate the lenses. Wait at least a minute and then very carefully take the lenses out.

Hold your eye open with one hand and with your index finger of the other gently touch the bottom of the pupil with your finger and slide it down. Continue to slide unil it has reached the bottom of your eye, then pull out your contact. It might be hard to touch your eyes but you dont want to take the chance of getting an infection. My friend left his in for 20 days straight and when he finally took them out his eyes were so dry he couldnt put his contacts back in for a week.
As frustrating as it might be at first, you really need the practice to take them out and put them in, and if you never do that then you wont learn how to touch your eyes. The sooner you learn the easier it gets.

Ok I do this all the time. I dont take my contacts out for a whole week or even more sometimes. I talked to my docotor and he said he would perfer if I took them out everyday, but my eye is fine. Well at leaste with the contact brand I have. He said *with my conact brand* that enough oxygen gets through to keep my eye healthy. But again he said he dosnt perfer or recommend this.

& yes buy eyedrops and put them in in the morning when you wake up if you sleep with yoru contacts in. & I think the only way you can take them out is to pinch them out... although if you rub your eye enough the sometimes fall out.
