First of all, glaucoma isn't an infection. You can't spread it. It isn't caused by a virus or bacterium, and you don't treat it with antibiotics.

I have glaucoma. There is no total cure for glaucoma as of yet, but it can be treated. The most common treatment for glaucoma is eye drops, but for more severe cases, surgery may be necessary. In my case, none of the more routine surgeries were working, so I had to have a tube shunt implanted in my eye to help drain away fluids inside my eye that raise the pressure level. I am blind, with some residual vision, but while i was blind long before developing glaucoma (from birth) we think it is possible that the glaucoma compromised my vision slightly

never heard of galucoma

maybe glaucoma : )

going through galucoma with my 6 year old cocker spaniel right now-his case its genetic-went totaly blind in right eye matter of 3 days-when it hit it went fast.We have him on 2 eye drops.surgery is out of the question cause of cost.we trying to keep pressure down but looks like its going to be better to have eye removed. From all the research I have done not much they can do.Humans have better options

I don't have it, but my mother does and so does most of the family on both sides so I am pretty much destined to have it myself on day.

My mother is currently using Xalatan drops from her Ophthalmologist. She's been on them for about 4 years now. The drops have been successful in keeping her IOP down, but glaucoma isn't something that can be cured. It can be maintained through the useage of prescription drops, but patients must be on them continuously in order for them to work.

She's had no negative impacts on her vision. Her last visual field test came out fine.
