Dry Eyes, Blinks Alot.. Is this bad?!

Question: My husband has this problem. He blinks alot and it looks as if he's twitching but he really isn't because he tells me its just that they become extremely dry. Its just sometimes that he does it, not always.

Is there any eye drops that may help or is this called something? (PS Visine doesn;t work for him)

Thank You

Thank You

Never never never use Visine, Murine or any eye drops that have Benzylkonium Chloride. It's extremely bad for your eyes.

Get that eye exam to be sure nothing is going on then buy a good brand of eye drops. I use Genteal. They have several levels of liquids and a gel for overnight use. At my next eye exam I may have to start with Restatsis but, I have been avoiding it because it is a steroid.

allergies

You should try going to a doctor to see what's causing his dry eyes if Visine isn't working for him.

try simple saline solution, sold in pharmacies for people who use contact lenses. dry eyes can lead to ulceration of the cornea so don't ignore it.

Try going to a general physician and getting a prescription that is right for him.

Ask him to use EYE MO. on regular basis.. it will help lot !!

chronic dry eye. seriously. i've seen a commercial for it. i;m pretty sure that's what it's called.

but why not go to the doctor to be certatin it's nothing bad??
get it checked out. it's always better to be safe than sorry.

yes there are its called crhonic dry eye the med is restasis get it from the docter

no.

i get the same way.

its just allergies.

DRY EYES!

Might be new allergies developing. Does he wear glasses? Might require some prescription eyedrops.

it could just be a symptom of the common alergies it may also be a small cold or other verious things so you may wanna see your docter about any medical past or anything like that also try taking 1 or 2 benadryl ok.

do you live in a cold climate and use a wood stove
cuz that can reall dry your eyes out.
try some eyedrops

Refresh Liquigel drops By Allergan. They work the best. My eye doctor recommended them.

Does he use the computer a lot? When we are concentrating on the screen, we tend not to blink as often as we would otherwise. This causes dry eyes. It could also be of using a heater (dries out the house) or not drinking enough fluids.

There are products out there for this problem that are called artificial tears. Visine has one but you have to make sure you're getting a rewetting solution or artificial tears product and not the "gets the red out" one.

However, I would also check with the doctor to rule anything else out. There are some health issues that can cause this condition too and there are simple tests to check. If he has a blockage of the tear ducts, it could cause terrible problems if not treated.

just ask at the pharmacy the pharmacist can tell you the best ones with out a script, or see the doc. the ones i use are by script

Two words for you ma'am...CLEAR EYES =) but seriously, it's REALLY effective...

Skip the Visine! He should see his eye dr (or perhaps someone who specializes in dry eye) because if he has dry eyes, he may need testing to determine the exact problem.

IIRC, there are 3 different types of dry eye causes.

It can get much worse w/o treatment.

I use castor oil drops - yes - I use a dropper to put actual castor oil in my eyes when they are bad. It's the active ingredient in some of the new prescription drugs out there, in addition to being a way to get something out of your eye if it is 'stuck'.
