Should I get reading glasses?!

Question: I have good eye site, but when I read books (not all the time but a lot), the words I am reading get all blurry and I can't focus clearly and it hurts my eyes, and I won't understand what I am reading and I'll have to go back and re-read it. This happens like 4 pages into a book. When I'm on a computer I am just fine. It's not because of the lighting either, because I there is enough light when I am reading.

When I'm older, will I have to wear glasses because of this? I don't wanna wear glasses forever, and I don't wanna get contacts. I don't mind getting glasses just for reading though.

It sounds like you have a little hyperopia (farsightedness). Young people can usually overcome this using natural accomodation ("zoom") but after a while your eyes tire and can cause the symptoms you describe. It may not affect you at the comp[uter as the screen is farther away and you don't need to use so much accomodation.

Yes, get an eye test. Your eyes will thank you.

Hi ,

You better get reading glass if you are above 40 yrs

Do you like your eye hurting when your reading? If you answered no then you should get glasses.

If you are unable to focus up-close (which is what reading glasses are supposed to correct), your symptoms won't happen 4 pages into your reading. It will happen immediately. It will also happen the same way, regardless of what you are reading.

You will need to get examined by an optometrists.

Keep in mind, those of us who wear glasses and contact lenses don't wear them because we want to. We wear them because we have to.
