You will get a trial pair when you go to the eye doctor. They are usually meant to be worn for 2 weeks, to see how you do with wearing them. You can get colored ones in trials, but most are marked "test" or "demo" on the lenses. The trials I got were 0.00, meaning I don't need vision correction. Not sure if they offer colored trial contacts with a prescription in them; my guess would be no. Your eye doctor may or may not have your prescription in stock. It shouldn't take but a few days to a week if they have to order them. You can also get your prescription, then order from 1800contacts.com or another site. 1800contacts is very cheap, and they ship super fast.

You will get a trial pair today. They may have your contacts ready there in store, it depends on your prescription. Mine in pretty bad so they have to order them. Most doctors have most prescriptions stocked. If they don't have your contacts in stock the longest it has taken for me is a week, but most likely you will get a trial pair to start. Be prepared to make a follow-up appointment to check the fit and wear of your contacts after about a week or two. Good Luck!

Alot of optometry shops will have trials for you to try. You want to get trials. Do not order contacts until you try them for a week and are happy with the fit and vision. Then they can order them and depending on your prescription it could take 1-2 days or up to a week.

Most opticians won't allow you to wear contact lenses until they are sure you can use them properly. They can be very awkward to begin with so it is unlikely you'll get them to take home today.

If you don't have any major eye problems, AND you have a typical prescription (i.e., you're not too blind), you will most likely get your contacts today.

depending on your prescription your eye doctor should have "trials" (a pair of contacts for you to try out) in stock. "trials" with your prescription do not come in colors. there are separate color "trials" for you to decide which color you would like to go with that do not have any prescription in them at all. if you have a difficult prescription to fill then it can take anywhere from a couple of days to 2 weeks for you to get a pair of "trials" in. from what you're describing though 'squinting and being far-sighted', your doctor should really have no problem supplying you with some contacts.
