There is a significant range of pupillary distance (PD) from patient to patient. Pupillary distance is the distance between the centers of the pupils of the eyes. As you might expect, the distance between the pupils increases from childhood to adulthood due to growth and development. Generally, though, you will find the great majority of adult PD's to be between 55mm and 68 mm.

about 2 inches apart

Average about 64 millimeters in a field between say 55mm and 70 mm.
