Eyelid redness related to coffee consumption..?!

Question: -Whats up folks! just a quick question for anyone who thinks they can help me out.
-I drink coffee on and off. For the past few months I've been drinking between 2-4 cups a day, and since then my eyelids have been kinda reddish brown in colour.
-I'm not sure what exactly is causing it, but this is the only correlation I can think of (being the caffeine)
-When I was in highschool I had this, and I somehow remember ceasing my coffee consumption somewhere around the time it cleared up.
-If you have any ideas or experiences, your answers will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Eyelid redness is due to a low level allergic reaction.

It's probably not the caffeine but some of the other components of coffee that are causing this (coffee is loaded with many different compounds besides caffeine).

It sounds like you've already diagnosed your problem as a sensitivity to coffee. If you want to know if it is specifically caffeine you can do 2 things:

(1) try decaffeinated coffee and see if you still have red eyes
or

(2) try take a "wake-up" tablet (which is pure caffeine - you can get it over the counter at most pharmacies)

Before you do either of these you have to quit coffee for at least a week to clear it out of your system or you won't know what you are reacting to.
