How long does a pair of glasses last you?!

Question: if you dont sit on them or do anything that makes it break, in other words you are very careful with them. i bought a pair of glasses about 2 years ago for $300 and i still use it but it is becoming very loose on my face and there are lots of scratches on the lens. is it time for me to buy new ones? how often do people change glasses?

After 2 years of daily wear you can't expect an item to be in the same condition it was the day you bought it. Nothing else is, if you think about it. Bags, shoes, etc. They wear. I think 2 years is the life expectancy of a pair of glasses, realistically.

Apart from anything else, styles change.

I've heard that you should get your eyes checked every year and hence change your glasses yearly. My husband wears glasses and he changes his about every year and a half to two years. His are getting loose on his face too. Sometimes its just a screw but his eyesight changes during the year (gets better or worse) so he makes sure that his prescription is correct.

You should have an exam every year. They can also adjust them for you at anytime. It sounds like you may be due for a new pair, if you can not see.

As long as your eyes stay in the same condition.

You could just have the lenses replaced. Have your optical shop tighten the screws and adjust the glasses to fit again. Wear them for a week or two, if they seem in good shape to you, then next time your prescription changes...just change the lenses.
