How to treat blood shot eyes?!

Question: I have had bloodshot eyes for several years now. It hasn't grown bad over the years, but it was always moderately - very red. The redness is mainly on the sides of my eyes; on my right eye there's a huge thin streak of red (like a vein) on the side reaching horizontally to the back, and on my left a spread of pale pink. It had been like this for quite some time... I have tried some to use warm compress, as well as some eyedrops over the years prescribed from the doctors, but nothing seem to work.

I have also had vision problems ever since I was small. I wear glasses, and recently contacts. I realized that the redness level isn't really affected by what I'm wearing to correct vision, but by the environment I'm in. In semi-dim lights (not too bright), outside (when it's moist and/or cold) or at home, my eyes are not as red. When I'm in the shopping mall or at school, my eyes tend to get really red. When it gets really red, my entire eye looks pink.

Can someone please help me?

Your problems could be one or a combination of things- I would consider your contact solution- if you are using Renu, I would switch to like Optifree- which is formulated for sensitive eyes. Secondly, you dont mention how many hours a day you are wearing your contacts. If you are wearing them say more than 8-10 hours- there is part of the problem- but it is always a good idea to rest your eyes from the contacts at least one day a week. Short of seasonal alllergies, you might consider seeing an Opthamologist.

Either get more rest or lay off the pot.

Find an optical specialist (i don't think thats the correct term)

Lay off the pot.
